Trump Tax Reporter, David Cay Johnston: I’m Getting Threats:
David Cay Johnston, who on Tuesday night reported on the first two pages of one of President Trump’s undisclosed income-tax returns, says he was the victim of harassment and threats overnight. “Trump fans call & harass my wife & one of my children after I break story White House confirmed. Sad! Let’s have open debate, not threats,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist tweeted. “To be clear, folks, I don’t intimidate. But calls to family are out of bounds, a disturbing sign of how Trump damages civil debate.” Johnston, who is a Daily Beast contributor and has covered Trump and his business dealings for more than 30 years, appeared on MSNBC to break the news that Trump owed $38 million in federal taxes on income of more than $150 million, according to two pages of his 2005 tax return. The White House responded to the report before Johnston even appeared on TV, stating, “Mr. Trump paid $38 million even after taking into account large-scale depreciation for construction, on an income of more than $150 million, as well as paying tens of millions of dollars in other taxes such as sales and excise taxes and employment taxes and this illegally published return proves just that.” Trump also tweeted Wednesday morning about the story: “Does anybody really believe that a reporter, who nobody ever heard of, ‘went to his mailbox’ and found my tax returns? @NBCNews FAKE NEWS!” Trump has refused to release his tax returns, citing an ongoing IRS audit.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang: We Don’t Want a ‘Trade War’:
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang
said Wednesday that while “we don’t want to see a trade war,” U.S. companies would bear the brunt of such a conflict. “Our hope on the Chinese side is that, no matter what bumps this relationship may run into, it will continue to move forward in a positive direction,” he said. Li told journalists that because the two world powers share such extensive mutual interests, their leaders should “sit down to talk to each other” to build trust. Several sources have reported that a meeting with President Xi Jinping
has been scheduled for April 6 at President Trump

Texans Get First Land Notices for Trump’s Border Wall:
Texans who live in the path of President Trump
’s proposedborder wall with Mexico have received the first letters, called a “Declaration of Taking,” from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. One of the notices, received by Yvette Salinas
, offers her family $2,900 for 1.2 acres near the Rio Grande. Even if her family does not accept the federal government’s offer, their land can still be seized through eminent domain. “It’s scary when you read it,” Salinas said. “You feel like you have to sign.” Salinas said her family has owned the entirety of their 16-acre property for at least five generations. During President George W. Bush
’s tenure, her family received a similar condemnation notice so that 110 miles of border fencing could be put on private land in Texas. They were never made to sell, and then Bush’s term ended.

Report: Indictments to Be Announced in Massive Yahoo Hack:
The Justice Department is expected to announce indictments Wednesday against suspects in a massive hacking attack against Yahoo, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday. Four people face indictments for their involvement in the online security breaches, which saw hundreds of millions of user accounts compromised. Three of the suspects live in Russia, and the fourth resides in Canada, Bloomberg reported, citing an anonymous source familiar with the situation. U.S. authorities were expected to arrest the suspect in Canada as early as Tuesday. It was not immediately clear which data breach the suspects were accused of involvement in. Yahoo has suffered a series of hacking attacks in recent years, with hackers stealing users’ personal data in a 2013 breach and 500 million user accounts compromised in 2014. The breaches—and the company’s delay in disclosing them—prompted a $350 million price reduction in the company’s sale of its web operations to Verizon Communications.

LBN COMMENTARY by W. Neil Gallagher: ***You change who you are and where you are… by changing what goes into your mind. ***In every adversity, there is the seed of an equal or greater opportunity. *** Love is a decision to do what is right, whether you feel like it or not. ***Self-pity is a luxury which winners reject because we know that others need our energy, enthusiasm, and hope.
