*OUT! – US Arrests Nearly 200 Iraqi Immigrants in Massive Deportation Sweep:

US immigration authorities have arrested and moved to deport 199 Iraqi immigrants, mostly from the Detroit area, in the last three weeks after Iraq agreed to accept deportees as part of a deal removing it from President Donald Trump’s travel ban, officials said Wednesday. In the Detroit area, 114 Iraqi nationals were arrested over the weekend, and 85 throughout the rest of the country over the past several weeks, Gillian Christensen, a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman, said in a statement. The actions came as part of the Trump administration’s push to increase immigration enforcement and make countries that have resisted in the past take back nationals ordered deported from the United States.
*After United Passenger-Dragging Incident, Complaints Against Airlines have Jumped 70 Percent:
The same month that a viral video depicted a United Airlines passenger being dragged from his seat, complaints against airlines in the U.S. soared 70 percent. A U.S. Department of Transportation report Wednesday showed that 1,909 complaints were filed in April against airlines flying in the U.S., up from 1,123 complaints in the same month last year. Although flight delays and cancellations increased somewhat in April, the most likely cause of the complaint surge was the public reaction to the bloody incident April 9 that put a focus on the treatment of passengers by the nation’s airlines.

*Trump’s Pledge to Wipe Out MS-13 Gang Paying off in NY:

President Trump’s pledge to wipe out the notoriously violent MS-13 gang is gaining traction — at least in the Empire State. Federal officials have rounded up close to 40 accused members of MS-13 in New York City and Long Island in the 30 days following vows by Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to crack down on the gang, known for terrorizing immigrant communities. Of the 45 New York-area gang arrests over the last month by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security, 39 were affiliated with MS-13, which has been blamed for a string of recent murders in normally placid Long Island, the feds said.
*LBN-NOTICED:   ***Rockefeller Center subway riders recently caught the performance of a lifetime when they witnessed a dynamic duo perform “Jolene.” Miley Cyrus, 24, took a page out of her “Hannah Montana” playbook and dressed in disguise alongside a costumed Jimmy Fallon for a segment to belt out the song for a segment on “The Tonight Show.” Cyrus and Fallon, 42, performed the Dolly Parton hit for passersby before removing their wigs and sunglasses to reveal their true identities.

*LBN-R.I.P.:   ***A. R. Gurney, a prolific playwright who dissected the fading folkways of the Northeast’s traditional white Anglo-Saxon Protestant society, of which he himself was a member, in plays like “The Middle Ages,” “The Dining Room” and “The Cocktail Hour,” died on Tuesday at his home in Manhattan. He was 86. His agent, Jonathan Lomma, confirmed the death but did not give a cause.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Mike Shedlock: The state of Illinois has not passed a budget for close to three years. Arguably it’s just as well because Illinois budgets for decades have been nothing but a moth-eaten collection of lies, one time deficits repeated endlessly, and financial wizardry statements designed to disguise Illinois’ real problems: failure to rein in spending coupled with a very business unfriendly environment. As Illinois’ bond rating careens towards junk, Illinois unpaid bills jumped to $14.3 billion. Today, the state told contractors to halt roadwork other than that required for safety.

*LBN-A DIFFERENT VIEW:….

*LBN-OVERHEARD:   ***Richard Williams, the famed father of tennis champs Venus and Serena Williams, is divorcing his wife of seven years. Richard, 75, not only wants to end his marriage to Lakeisha Williams, 38, he claims she’s stealing his Social Security checks and has forged his name on a deed transfer. To make matters worse, Richard and Lakeisha share a 5-year-old son, who Richard claims is in danger while in her care. He says Lakeisha is staying with someone with pending “criminal felony charges.” There are also allegations of alcoholism and gun theft against her.   ***“Saturday Night Live” comic and “Rough Night” star Kate McKinnon was fêted by Elle magazine at the Public hotel with a stand-up show featuring feisty feminist comedy from Jamie Lee, Tiffany Haddish, Cristela Alonzo and Whitney Cummings. “There was a rumor going on for a while that men like strong women,” Cummings joked to the female crowd. “No, they don’t. I’ve seen porn . . . They have categories you can pick from on the side, it’s like ‘girl-on-girl,’ ‘college girl.’ There’s no ‘CEO girl with a book deal.’ ”
