*RISKY BUSINESS – Renowned Spanish Bullfighter Dies After Being Gored by Bull
A famous Spanish bullfighter has died after being gored by a bull during a fight in France this weekend. Ivan Fandinosuffered a punctured lung when the bull rammed him with its horn on Saturday, and he reportedly suffered two heart attacks in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, Agence France-Presse reported Sunday. The 36-year-old had been performing at the Aire-sur-l’Adour bullfighting festival in southwestern France, and he had won an earlier fight prior to the fatal incident. Fandino had a reputation for taking on bulls that other bullfighters wouldn’t go up against, even taking part in a fight against six different bulls all by himself in 2012.

*Report: Shooter at GOP Baseball Practice Had List of Names

The man accused of shooting House Majority Whip Steve Scalise at a congressional baseball practice on Wednesday had a list of other lawmakers at the time of the attack, the Associated Press reported Saturday. Citing a person familiar with the matter, the report said the shooter had a piece of paper with drawings and three other lawmakers’ names, though investigators aren’t sure if he intended to target the other individuals on the list. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, did not reveal the names of the other lawmakers but said they had been briefed on the situation. Scalise has undergone multiple surgeries since the shooting and remains in critical condition. His trauma surgeon said Friday that he faces additional operations and “will be in the hospital for some time.”

*MY REVIEW: “Information is power and LBN is a power-tool. It makes me smarter, more engaged and more alive.”——Darlene M., an LBN reader from Portland, Oregon.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Camille Cosby: How do I describe the District Attorney? Heinously and exploitively ambitious. How do I describe the judge? Overtly and arrogantly collaborating with the District Attorney. How do I describe the counsels for the accusers? Totally unethical. How do I describe many, but not all, general media? Blatantly vicious entities that continually disseminated intentional omissions of truths for the primary purpose of greedily selling sensationalism at the expense of a human life. Historically, people have challenged injustices. I am grateful to any of the jurors who tenaciously fought to review the evidence; which is the rightful way to make a sound decision … ultimately, that is a manifestation of justice, based on facts, not lies. As a very special friend once stated, ‘truth can be subdued, but not destroyed.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Maureen Dowd: It’s been a bad week for brozillas. Our two most famous Neanderthal disrupters, one on each coast, have been in a race to see who can flame out more quickly — and insensibly. Arrogance. Chaos. Childish pique. Gauche verbal blunders. Deceptions. Unacceptable behavior toward women. A bunker paranoia at the top, with staffers below scheming to undercut one another. Even though one embodies the tech economy and the other is celebrating coal mining and curtailing globalization, Travis Kalanick and Donald Trump displayed similar traits as they rose to power, ignoring boundaries and smashing institutional structures. The 40-year-old ride-sharing king and the 71-year-old Twitter president luxuriated in their mostly white, male cocoons and always seemed to have a spoken or unspoken “or else” tagged onto their requests.

*LBN-COMMENTARY By Charles Krauthammer: Having coined Bush Derangement Syndrome more than a decade ago, I feel authorized to weigh in on its most recent offshoot. What distinguishes Trump Derangement Syndrome is not just general hysteria about the subject, but additionally the inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences on the one hand and signs of psychic pathology on the other. Take President Trump’s climate-change decision. The hyperbole that met his withdrawal from the Paris agreement — a traitorous act of war against the American people, America just resigned as leader of the free world, etc. — was astonishing, though hardly unusual, this being Trump. What the critics don’t seem to recognize is that the Paris agreement itself was a huge failure. It contained no uniform commitments and no enforcement provisions. Sure, the whole world signed. But onto what? A voluntary set of vaporous promises. China pledged to “achieve the peaking of [carbon dioxide] emissions around 2030.” Meaning that they rise for another 13 years.

*LBN-OVERHEARD:   ***Alyssa Milano has filed a $10 million lawsuit accusing her former business manager of severe misconduct that caused her to spiral into a financial disaster. The suit accuses accountant Kenneth Hellie and his firm, Hellie, Hoffer & Co., of forging her signature on checks, failing to pay overdue bills and taxes, and inducing her to make bad investments in businesses in which he was also an investor, without disclosing the conflict. Hellie’s actions, according to the suit, left Milano and her husband, talent agent David Bugliari, “with millions of dollars in debt and their credit in ruins.”
