LBN- Special Report- Sunday

*Hillary Clinton Exits 9/11 Event Early After Taking Ill:
Hillary Clinton may have fainted at the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero Sunday morning, according to NBC News who spoke with two senior law enforcement sources. The Democratic presidential candidate was moved swiftly from the memorial in her campaign’s van, the sources said. The NYPD was sent to pick up a shoe that fell off her foot, according to NBC. Clinton’s campaign said she felt “overheated” before exiting the ceremony and is now “feeling much better.” “Secretary Clinton attended the September 11th Commemoration Ceremony for just an hour and thirty minutes this morning to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill.

*Hillary Apologizes for ‘Deplorables’ Remark About Trump Supporters:
Hillary Clinton apologized to millions of Donald Trumpsupporters on Saturday, one night after she called half of them “deplorables.” At a fundraiser event in New York on Friday night, she said, “To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables. Unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.” “I regret saying ‘half’—that was wrong,” Clinton said in a statement on Facebook. “But let’s be clear, what’s really ‘deplorable’ is that Donald Trump hired a major advocate for the so-called ‘alt-right’ movement to run his campaign and that David Duke and other white supremacists see him as a champion of their values.” Trump’s running mate Mike Pence called Clinton out for her remarks at the annual Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. “It’s extraordinary to think about. She referred to those people as irredeemable… [Someone who has] such a low opinion of people who support this campaign should be denounced in the strongest possible terms.” “Hillary, they are not a basket of anything,” Pence continued, calling Trump fans “hard-working Americans,” farmers, coal miners, teachers, and so on. They are Americans and they deserve your respect.”

*Trump, Clinton Close in 4 Swing States:
In a series of new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are locked in a tight contest in New Hampshire, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. Georgia and Arizona are typically Republican strongholds but have become closer contests in 2016. Clinton has maintained a national lead but it has declined to a degree over the last month.

*LBN-INVESTIGATES: Murder rates rose significantly in 25 of the nation’s 100 largest cities last year, according to an analysis by The New York Times of new data compiled from individual police departments. The findings confirm a trend that was tracked recently in a study published by the National Institute of Justice. “The homicide increase in the nation’s large cities was real and nearly unprecedented,” wrote the study’s author, Richard Rosenfeld, a criminology professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis who explored homicide data in 56 large American cities. In the Times analysis, half of the increase came from just seven cities — Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Milwaukee, Nashville and Washington. Chicago had the most homicides — 488 in 2015 — far more than the 352 in New York City, which has three times as many people. Baltimore had the largest increase — 133 more than 2014 — and the second-highest rate in 2015, after St. Louis, which had 59 homicides per 100,000 residents.

*Miami Beach Mayor: Zika Threat Continues to Grow:
Residents of Miami Beach were warned on Friday that the “Zika threat continues to grow” after another sample of mosquitoes in the area tested positive for the virus. Miami Beach mayor Philip Levine sent out a notice to all residents and businesses to inform them of the news, noting that the infected mosquitoes were found in the same Miami Beach neighborhood where mosquitoes tested positive for the virus on Sept. 1. Levine said the news only served as a reminder to be “as aggressive as we can be against Zika.” Miami-Dade County mayor Carlos A. Gimenez echoed Levine’s comments, saying Friday that “we must continue our proactive and aggressive approach,” including by conducting aerial spraying. Authorities in Miami Beach began a round of aerial insecticide spraying on Friday, and another round is scheduled forSunday. As of Sept. 4, authorities had recorded 604 travel-related Zika infections, including 84 pregnant women.
