Trump Mocks Media for Predicting Clinton Win:

Donald Trump regaled a crowd in Florida with tales of his election win on Friday night, mocking the media for being in a “state of panic” over the shocking outcome. “Now they’re getting nervous on television, and you see these anchors, they’re like sweating and crying and throwing up all over the place,” he said. Trump specifically called out CNN anchor John King, saying the reporter began to visibly shake while updating the election night map with Trump’s victories. At one point he described the journalist as “choking like a dog,” almost certainly becoming the first soon-to-be leader of the free world to so gleefully mock the press. The president-elect even went on to impersonate a news anchor, dropping his voice to say, “’We have bad news, ladies and gentlemen, Donald Trump …,’” before breaking off to narrate a reporter’s distress at his win, saying “the guy’s getting sick, he’s ready to throw up all over.” Apart from mocking the media’s election night coverage, Trump also took a jab at the press covering the very rally he was speaking at on Friday, suggesting they be moved to the very back of the arena. Supporters chanted, “Move them back!”  in support of the president-elect’s suggestion. Trump’s tense relationship with the media was a cause for concern throughout his campaign, with many expressing outrage that the Republican candidate encouraged his supporters to bully journalists.

Obama: I Told Putin to ‘Cut It Out’:

President Barack Obama on Friday said that he told RussianPresident Vladimir Putin to “cut it out” with regard to his country’s alleged hacking of U.S. institutions in advance of the presidential election. “In early September when I saw President Putin in China, I felt that the most effective way to ensure that that didn’t happen was to talk to him directly and tell him to cut it out and there were going to be some serious consequences if he didn’t,” Obama said Friday at his year-end press conference, adding that “we did not see further tampering of the election process” after he talked with Putin. “But the leaks through WikiLeaks had already occurred.” Obama concluded by saying that he believes he handled it “the way it should’ve been handled.”

Trump Taps Mulvaney as Budget Director:

President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday said he’s picked U.S. Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina to be his White House budget director. The announcement, made just as Trump begins a holiday vacation at his Mar-A-Lago estate, shows the president-elect placing his bets on a fiscal conservative to pursue his agenda. Mulvaney, 49, will still have to get confirmation from the Senate to take the post of director of the White House Office of Budget and Management. He was an outspoken critic of Hillary Clinton throughout the presidential race, frequently echoing Trump’s remarks about Clinton being a criminal. In a statement announcing the appointment on Saturday, Trump praised Mulvaney as a strong proponent for “reining in out-of-control spending, fighting government waste and enacting tax policies that will allow working Americans to thrive.” “Right now we are nearly $20 trillion in debt, but Mick is a very high-energy leader with deep convictions for how to responsibly manage our nation’s finances and save our country from drowning in red ink,” he said. Mulvaney, who called it a “great honor” to be nominated, vowed to “restore budgetary and fiscal sanity.”

Report: Cheney Lobbying for Tillerson:

President-elect Donald Trump was extremely critical of the Bush administration’s foreign policy during the election and likewise former vice president Dick Cheney criticized Trump. But now, Cheney has been lobbying Republican senators to approve of Trump’s selection of Rex Tillerson as the next Secretary of State. Senator Marco Rubio reportedly received a call from Cheney to attempt to influence his vote in what could be a tricky confirmation process due to Tillerson’s ties to Russia. Cheney also reportedly speaks with vice president-elect Mike Pence regularly.

Rodrigo Duterte: I Killed Three Men:

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said Friday that hepersonally killed three men while he was the mayor of Davao, despite his spokesman’s claim that he hadn’t. “I killed about three of them. … I don’t know how many bullets from my gun went inside their bodies. It happened and I cannot lie about it,” Duterte said. The declaration comes just two days after he said, more generally, that he would ride on a motorcycle and “patrol the streets, looking for trouble … looking for a confrontation so I could kill.” On Friday, though, his spokesman Martin Andanarsaid to not take Duterte literally. “That is the style of the president, ever since he was a mayor he would talk that way,” Andanar said. Nearly 6,000 people are believed to have been killed since Duterte took office as part of his crackdown on drug dealers and addicts.
