South Korean Prosecutors Seek to Arrest Samsung Head for Bribery:

South Korean prosecutors on Monday sought an arrest warrant for Jay Y. Lee, the head of Samsung Group, in a massive bribery scandal that goes all the way up to the president’s office. Lee was interrogated last week for 22 hours in a row over accusations he paid multi-million dollar bribes to a friend of President Park Geun-hye in order to secure business deals. Lee, who took over control of the company in 2014, also facesaccusations of embezzlement and perjury, Reuters reported, citing copies of prosecutors’ documents. At a briefing on Monday morning, prosecutors said they intended to go after Lee despite his company’s status as the country’s largest conglomerate. “The special prosecutors’ office, in making this decision to seek an arrest warrant, determined that while the country’s economic conditions are important, upholding justice takes precedence,” Lee Kyu-chul, a spokesman for prosecutors, was cited as saying. Lee is due to appear at a court hearing on Wednesday, when a judge will decide whether to grant the arrest warrant.

Priebus: Pressers Might Be Moved From WH:

Incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said onSunday in an appearance on “This Week” that news conferences that are typically held in the White House briefing room might be moved to a bigger area to accommodate “more press, more coverage from all over the country.” The interview came after a report from Esquire that quoted White House Communications Director Sean Spicer saying there had been some discussion about a ban on reporters in the briefing room. “The only thing that’s been discussed is whether or not the initial press conferences are going to be in that small press room,” Priebus said on Sunday.

Police: 5 Killed in Shooting at Mexican Resort:

At least five people were killed at an electronic music festival at a popular Mexican resort on Monday after a lone shooter opened fire, festival organizers said. Rodolfo Del Angel, director of police in the state of Quintana Roo, said another 15 people were injured in addition to the five killed. Del Angel told local media the shooting was caused by “a disagreement between people inside” the club where the festival was underway. The attack happened at about 2:30 a.m. local time in the Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa del Carmen, about 45 miles from Cancun. The Associated Press had earlier cited a Mexican police officer as saying four people had been fatally shot, while DJ Jackmaster, a performer at the event, said “four or five” people had been killed. The police officer spoke on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorized to speak to the press. NBC News cited an employee at the CostaMed hospital in Playa del Carmen saying two people were admitted early Monday with gunshot wounds, with one in grave condition. Several other people were injured in the shooting and had been sent to other hospitals, the employee said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

His lawyer, Robert Kirwan II, said the former WWE start had died “due to complications from his ongoing medical problems.” Snuka’s death came less than two weeks after a Pennsylvania judge dismissed a murder case against him over the 1983 death of his girlfriend, a case which overshadowed his career. Prosecutors alleged that he had beaten her to death, while he maintained she died in a fall. Lehigh County Judge Kelly Banach dismissed the case against him on Jan. 3 after the defense announced he had only six months to live and was living in hospice care in Florida.   ***Tony Rosato, who was a cast member of the sketch shows “Saturday Night Live” and “SCTV” in the 1980s, but whose career ground to a halt when mental illness led to his incarceration in the 2000s, died on Tuesday at his home in Toronto. LBN-COMMENTARY by Vickie Casas (Business owner): JohnLewis certainly deserves to be torn into by many, not just Trump. Any Democratic congressman who refuses to appear at Donald Trump’s swearing in as the newly elected President loses all credibility.  John Lewis may have served in congress for thirty years yet accomplished very little for the people he has represented.  I hope the people who live, work and breath in John Lewis’s district will actually get the help they need under the Trump administration for their under achieving schools and the criminal activity that jeopardizes the youth every day!   No loss for Trump if John Lewis does not attend the swearing in, as Trump likes to surround himself with winners not losers.
