LBN- Special Report- Friday

*Trump Admits Lying About ‘Secret’ Iran Video:

Donald Trump has finally admitted he got something wrong. After publicly declaring multiple times this week that he had seen “top-secret” footage of a plane unloading money the same day the Iranian government released four American detainees, the Republican presidential nominee finally admitted that video does not exist. “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!” he tweeted early Friday. Trump initially told a crowd Wednesday that he’d seen the nonexistent video—footage he claimed was filmed by the Iranian government to “embarrass” the United States. The next day, however, Trump’s own spokeswoman said the video was actually of prisoners being released. Nevertheless, Trump doubled down, again repeating the claim even after it had been debunked by his own campaign.

*SCATHING – Former CIA Head Michael Morell: I’m Voting for Hillary:
Yet another former George W. Bush administration official has announced they will vote for Hillary Clinton this November. In a scathing New York Times op-ed, Michael J. Morell, a former intelligence briefer for President Bush and an acting CIA director under President Obama, called GOP nominee Donald Trump“a threat to our national security.” The real-estate mogul, Morell wrote, has repeatedly “undermined” security by calling for a ban on Muslim immigration to the U.S., and by taking “policy positions consistent with Russian, not American, interests.” The latter of which led to Morell’s most damaging conclusion: “In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation.”

*U.S. Adds 255K Jobs in July:
The U.S. added 255,000 jobs during the month of July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Friday morning. The numbers handily beat expectations of 180,000 jobs, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.9 percent. However, job growth in May was extremely tepid: Just 38,000 new jobs were created, the BLS said originally, but that number has since been revised down to 11,000—and now back up to 24,000. July was the second month in a row of strong job growth that was better than economists had predicted. Additionally, June’s number was revised up to 292,000 from 287,000.

*Cops: Va. Mayor Offered Us Meth for Sex:
Richard Silverthorne, the mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, was arrested and charged with trading methamphetamines in exchange for sex, police said Friday. Officials said Silverthorne, 50, was nabbed Thursday when he met with undercover cops at a hotel to give them meth. His alleged suppliers were also arrested. The investigation began last month, and officials said they ultimately concluded that Silverthorne was using a website to trade meth for sex with other men. Fairfax is a wealthy suburb of Washington, D.C.

*Video: Syrian Women Burn Burqas to Celebrate Freedom From ISIS:
New footage from Syria shows women burning their burqas this week to celebrate being liberated from ISIS control in thenorthern city of Manbij. After fighters consisting largely of the Western-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces successfully pushed ISIS militants out of the area, following several weeks of battle, rescued civilians took to a public square and women burned the traditional robes they were forced to wear by the brutally repressive jihadis. Manbij’s liberation also serves as a key strategic piece in the fight against ISIS, as the city sits along the route between the Turkish border and the militants’ stronghold city of Raqqa.

The purpose is to try to grow human tissues or organs in animals to better understand human diseases and develop therapies to treat them.

*LBN-INVESTIGATES: Just three weeks before NYU’s newest class moves into the area, a group of junkies and crackheads has turned a leafy pathway in Washington Square Park in NYC into an open-air drug den — and the NYPD is doing nothing about it. As many as 20 strung-out vagrants have taken over several benches in the park’s northwest corner, where they openly consume hard drugs just steps from the children’s playground, outraged neighbors said.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by David Brooks: Up through the convention there were all sorts of Republican officeholders who weren’t really for Trump, but they weren’t really against him. They sort of endorsed him implicitly, while trying to change the subject.Their bodies squirmed when they were asked about their nominee. They refused to look you straight in the eye. They made little apologetic comments so you would still like them even though they were doing this shameful thing. They had all sorts of squirrelly formulations about why it was O.K. to ride the Trump train: He can be tamed or surrounded and improved. Sure, he’s got some real weaknesses, but he’s more or less a normal candidate who is at least better than Hillary. Over the past few days, Trump has destroyed this middle ground. He’s exposed the wet noodle Republicans as suckers, or worse. Trump has shown that he is not a normal candidate. He is a political rampage charging ever more wildly out of control. And no, he cannot be changed.

*LBN-COMMENTARY  by Neil Gallagher: Report on Donald and Hillary and the $15-hour minimum wage. Gotta’ give Hillary and “I” for incomplete. She won’t state her position on the $15.00. In the past, she has supported legislation for up-ing the minimum, by specific amounts. Mum’s the word on the $15-hour issue. Donald’s a little better. Maybe a “B” on the minimum wage issue. But in specific reference to $15.00, he says, “When we all bring these jobs back to America, no one will be talking about or worrying about minimum wage of $15.00 or anything else.” In brief, the Donald would say, “…you can get yourself to a higher wage faster, by working smarter and faster, rather than waiting for a politician to do it for you.

Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
